Photo Friday: North Shore of Lake Superior

My sister came to visit me last weekend! It was great to be able to spend time with her before she heads off to the crazy land of grad school. On Sunday, we took a drive up the North Shore of Lake Superior to check out some of the sights. We stopped at a few pullouts that had small beaches (& a cliff!), Gooseberry Falls State Park, and Split Rock Lighthouse.

While at Gooseberry Falls SP, we meandered around the waterfalls a bit and then hiked about a mile to the Lake Superior shore. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, so we just sat on the beach and relaxed a bit. When I say beach…there was no sand, just rocks.

Split Rock Lighthouse is a historical sight (as well as a state park). We took a tour of the lighthouse property and learned about why and how Split Rock was built.
